Tooth Extractions in Vile Parle East, Mumbai.

Extraction is not a routine first-line treatment at Designer Smiles. The clinical philosophy of the practice has always been to save teeth where they can reasonably be saved, and extraction is recommended only when it is genuinely the right choice for the patient's overall dental and general health.

Under the supervision of Dr. Kavita Bhat Kumar and the specialist team, extractions when needed are performed with the painlessness, precision, and post-operative care that patients associate with the clinic's broader standard.

01 / When Indicated

When Extraction Is the Right Choice.

Non-restorable decay. When a tooth is so extensively decayed that no restorative option, filling, crown, root canal, or otherwise, can reasonably rescue it.

Severe periodontal disease. When bone loss around a tooth has progressed to the point where the tooth is no longer supported and cannot be saved by periodontal treatment.

Fractured tooth. When a tooth is fractured below the gumline or in a way that prevents restoration.

Impacted or problem teeth. Where a tooth cannot erupt properly or is causing damage to adjacent teeth. See the wisdom tooth removal page for the specific case of wisdom teeth.

Orthodontic requirement. In some orthodontic cases, extraction of one or more teeth is planned to create space for proper alignment. See the orthodontics page for context.

Preparation for dentures or specific restorative plans. Occasionally, extraction is part of a larger treatment plan to restore function comprehensively.

Where alternatives exist, they are discussed. Extraction is only recommended when it is the correct clinical choice for the patient's overall situation.

02 / Procedure

How Extractions Are Performed at Designer Smiles.

Simple extraction. When the tooth is visible above the gumline and can be removed with instruments alone. The area is fully numbed with local anesthesia, the tooth is loosened from its socket with specialized instruments, and removed. Typically a straightforward, short procedure.

Surgical extraction. Required for teeth that are broken at the gumline, not fully erupted, or otherwise not accessible for simple extraction. A small incision may be made to access the tooth, and in some cases the tooth is sectioned into pieces for easier removal. Sutures are used to close the site.

Pain and anxiety management. Local anesthesia is administered painlessly using the same techniques applied throughout the clinic. Patients with significant dental anxiety are managed with additional supportive measures as needed.

Post-extraction care. Detailed instructions are provided for post-operative care: managing the blood clot, controlling any bleeding, managing discomfort, diet, oral hygiene around the area, and what to expect during healing. Prescribed medication as appropriate for the specific case.

And, as always at Designer Smiles, the appointment ends with the signature warm towel and neck and face massage in a private operatory.

03 / Replacement

Replacing the Extracted Tooth.

Except for wisdom teeth and specific orthodontic cases, an extracted tooth generally needs to be replaced. Leaving a gap can cause adjacent teeth to shift into it, opposing teeth to over-erupt, and the bite to change in ways that create further problems. Options include dental implants, bridges, and dentures. The replacement plan is often discussed and initiated at the time the extraction is planned, so that the overall pathway is clear.
