Designer Smiles opened in Vile Parle East in 1995 with a simple belief, that good oral health starts with patients who actually feel comfortable in the chair. More than 30 years later, that is still the standard the clinic is run on, a multispecialty practice rather than a single dentist handling everything, in a space designed to feel relaxed rather than clinical.

A lot has changed since 1995, the technology, the team, the range of treatments on offer, but the core idea has not, every patient's dental care should be treated holistically, not as a series of disconnected fixes.

Dr. Kavita Bhat Kumar has led Designer Smiles since 1995, bringing more than 30 years of clinical experience to patients across Vile Parle East and Mumbai's western suburbs. Her training goes well beyond a standard dental qualification, she has trained in aesthetic dentistry in Germany, and completed specialized training in soft and hard tissue lasers at the University of Bonn. She also holds a diploma in healthcare management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, training that shapes how the clinic itself runs, not just how individual procedures are done.

She has held office within the Indian Dental Association, the body that sets ethical and clinical standards for dentists nationwide, and regularly conducts seminars and workshops on dental health. She has also written for newspapers and dental publications, work that contributed to her being named Iconic Dental Health Expert 2021.

An advocate of both preventive and painless dentistry, she stays current with the philosophy, science, and technology shaping modern dental care.
